PASSION, TRADITION, FAMILY
The history of a professor who fell in love with the countryside
Eeverything has begun from these 3 ingredients, in 1903. During that year, professor G. P. Piana left the university of Milan, where he used to teach, in order to relocate/move in the green of the Castel San Pietro countryside hills.
The one between him and the Emilian countryside was a love lighting strike, and among orchards and aromatic herb plants he started studying bees’ world. He realised that Italian bees had particular skills and were more docile and productive than the other European bees. In this way Apicoltura Piana was born. An authoritative reality known overseas for its Italian queen bees.

An authoritative reality known overseas for its Italian queen bees.
In the postwar period, the Piana brothers resumed the activity and the queen bee breeding continued growing up and up.
In the early ‘50s Apicoltura Piana had already become one of the major Italian companies of this sector with its main activities: breeding and export of queen bees, nomadic beekeeping with honey production and manufacture of wax sheets.
Thanks to Giulio Piana’s intuition and, above all, to its skills, the company continued growing up, expanding the activity also to the packaging of honey.
In the 70’s Giulio and Apicoltura Piana rappresented a fundamental reference point in the bee’s world.
In the 90’s the company’s volumes and sales grew significatively, placing Apicoltura Piana at the top of the sector.
Nowadays is still a leader in the world of honey with the same passion.
